Imprelis Voluntary Suspension of Sale and Product Recall

On Monday August 8, 2011 Wayne Buhler sent me a notification that Imprelis, a herbicide just released for turf managers, announced on August 5, 2011 a voluntary suspension of sale and recall. The actual letter can be viewed here.

Letter to Turf Management Product Distributors

Dear Turf Management Product Distributor:

I’m writing to let you know that today DuPont is implementing a voluntary suspension of sale of Imprelis® herbicide. In addition, I want you to know that we will soon be conducting a product return and refund program for Imprelis® herbicide.

This action is consistent with our ongoing discussions with, and response to, the Environmental Protection Agency. We wanted to communicate this decision to you immediately. However, please do not take any action until we contact you with additional information about this program.

We intend to start the product return and refund program in mid-August. We will be contacting you soon with additional details about how to collect the product from your customers and return it to DuPont. We will also be letting you know what records of the returns you will need to keep as part of the process, what your customers will need to do, and how you will be credited for the returned product. This notice covers full and partial containers, and all pack sizes of Imprelis®.

Our goal is to make this process as efficient and streamlined as possible for your business. If you have immediate questions, please contact our Customer Service Center at 1-800-342-5247 (prompt 99).

We’d like to remind you not to take any action until you hear from our Customer Service Representative.

We sincerely regret any tree injuries that lmprelis® may have caused, and will work with you and all of our customers to promptly and fairly resolve problems associated with our product.

Board of Directors Meeting

On March 8, 2010 there will be a Board of Directors meeting at the Watauga County Agriculture Center at the Watauga County Cooperative Extension Office. The meeting will start at 7 pm.

Landscape Educational Day Rescheduled

We have an upcoming educational opportunity for you. On Friday, March 19, 2010 the Avery County and Watauga County Cooperative Extension Centers are hosting a day long educational event. This event will take place at the B.H. Corpening Forest Training Facility located at 6065 Linville Hwy in Crossnore. The meeting will begin with registration at 8:30am. When arriving you will travel across the high water bridge and the facility will be located on your right.

We will be offering several different classes concerning both the growing and maintenance aspect of landscapes, but also the financial aspects. . It has been approved for 1 hour of pesticide credit for A,B,G,H,I,K,M,O,T and 2 hours for L,N,D,X. Not all categories will get two hours. These hours have been applied for and we are waiting for confirmation.

Please register by calling the Avery County Cooperative Extension Center at 828-733-8270. We do have a limitation of 75 participants. There will be a registration fee to cover the expense of lunch and educational materials. If you have any questions, please give me a call.
